If you want to feel really hardcore with little effort I highly suggest making your own barbecue sauce. The brags that roll off the tongue taste just as good as the actual sauce itself. Honey exists in such a grey area of the vegan/vegetarian debate but I’ve always consumed it with zero guilt because I try my hardest to make sure my honey is coming from people that call themselves “bee-tenders” instead of “beekeepers”. A few years ago I met some tourists while working at Pike Place and they gifted me some honey and explained why they called themselves bee-tenders. The whole exchange of honey and information was real *~sweet~*. I was really moved by how much respect they have for their bee friends and loved how they explained the partnership they have with this bit of nature as opposed to a sort of ownership over it. They just let the bees do their own thing and assist when it seems absolutely necessary but keep their hands in their pockets for the most part. They weren’t worried about obtaining a certain yield of honey and because they didn’t want to profit off the work of their friends they gifted the honey to deserving strangers they met on their travels. It was definitely a huge honor to be chosen to receive this honey. The majority of the honey that I receive these days comes from one of my mom’s and step dad's friend, Armando, in Rincón, Puerto Rico. His honey, cigars, and attitude are the bee’s knees. Bees are way too vital for us to be demanding cheap honey so I highly suggest doing your research and finding an ethical honey supplier. If you’re not willing to treat honey as a luxury then you probably don’t deserve it. #sorrynotsorry

Anyways. This bbq sauce recipe is delicious! I’m working on creating a post that’s all about Trader Joe’s canned jackfruit and most of the recipes will feature this bbq sauce. So stay tuned for that! How did y'all serve your bbq sauce?
